Heidi Cronce is the owner and designer behind Hilda - a Portland, Oregon based heirloom goods and quilting company. Hilda’s designs are timeless, using intentionally simplistic color studies to create whimsy and warmth.

Energized by the collision of tradition and functional beauty, heirloom-quality is an important platform to all Hilda products. Use it, love it, pass it on.

Exceptional craft and heritage are combined with tasteful, simple color schemes. I anticipate and design each quilt considering various wear and tear potentials. Baby quilts for example will need to be washed frequently - I tend to machine-quilt these minis as a result.  All quilts are made in my (smoke-free) home on my Pfaff sewing machine.

My Story

Heidi/Hilda same/same.

Heidi has been sewing for 16+ years. This one-woman run studio was founded in 2013 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Hilda is only part of my passion for creating and problem solving. I spend the majority of my day flexing as a Creative Director, crafting experiences. Both Heidi/Hilda personas require extreme attention to detail, a self-starting attitude and hyper vigilence toward obsessing over function and form. Hilda reminds me to get off the computer, slow down and focus on a creating by hand. Identifying as a maker is super important to me; it's humbling self-care to practice handwork. Try it, get messy, fail. I encourage you to go make something by hand today.

Offline you’ll find me eating bagels and scheming a new adventure with my boys. Most days go something like: forgetting to water my plants, zoom calls in my slippers, and eating too much cheese. Special hip hip hoorah to the powerful woman who taught me to sew, my mom Clare.
